It is now archived in the Museum of Yugoslav History, making it their first virtual artifact.<\/p>\n<p>This short film is a meditation on technology and digital content, presented against the backdrop of socialism\u2019s collapse in Eastern Europe and the rise in popularity of the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>The screening will be followed by a talk by artist and <i>From yu to me<\/i> director Aleksandra Domanovi\u0107 with scientists Borka Jerman Bla\u017ei\u010d and Mirjana Tasi\u0107.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioned by Abandon Normal Devices, Fridericianum and Rhizome.<\/p>\n<p><b>About Aleksandra Domanovi\u0107:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, in 1981, Domanovi\u0107 currently lives and works in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>She is concerned with the circulation and reception of images and information, particularly as they shift meaning and change register, traversing different contexts and historical circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Her works create strange taxonomies and manic associative chains that poke and prod at copyright laws, unpack the geopolitical implications of web domains, or explore \u2013 as in the co-creation of the collaborative exhibition platform <a href=\"http:\/\/vvork.com\/\">vvork.com<\/a> \u2013 the model of exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>In the last few years Domanovi\u0107 has turned her attention to the complex ways in which image culture and information flows have formed the postwar environment of former Yugoslavia.<\/p>\n<p>Her recent solo and group exhibitions include <i>The Future Was at Her Fingertips<\/i> (Tanya Leighton Berlin, 2013), <i>Meanwhile, Suddenly and Then<\/i> (12th Biennale de Lyon, 2013), <i>A Different Kind of Order<\/i> (ICP Triennial, New York, 2013), <i>Turbo Sculpture<\/i> (Space, London, 2012), <i>Higher Atlas<\/i> (Marrakech Biennale 4th Edition, 2012) and <i>From yu to me<\/i> (Kunsthalle Basel, 2012).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; See more at: http:\/\/www.andfestival.org.uk\/events\/from-yu-to-me\/#sthash.fboH0knr.dpuf<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An allegory for wider social and political turmoil in Europe, From yu to me focuses on the story of the top-level Internet domain for Yugoslavia, .yu, and the two female scientists \u2013 Borka Jerman Bla\u017ei\u010d and Mirjana Tasi\u0107 \u2013 who administered it.
