An allegory for wider social and political turmoil in Europe, From yu to me<\/i> focuses on the story of the top-level Internet domain for Yugoslavia, .yu, and the two female scientists \u2013 Borka Jerman Bla\u017ei\u010d and Mirjana Tasi\u0107 \u2013 who administered it.<\/p>\n
First registered in 1989, the domain was only abolished in 2010 \u2013 long after Yugoslavia\u2019s dissolution. It is now archived in the Museum of Yugoslav History, making it their first virtual artifact.<\/p>\n
This short film is a meditation on technology and digital content, presented against the backdrop of socialism\u2019s collapse in Eastern Europe and the rise in popularity of the Internet.<\/p>\n
The screening will be followed by a talk by artist and From yu to me<\/i> director Aleksandra Domanovi\u0107 with scientists Borka Jerman Bla\u017ei\u010d and Mirjana Tasi\u0107.<\/p>\n

About Aleksandra Domanovi\u0107:<\/b><\/p>\n
Born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, in 1981, Domanovi\u0107 currently lives and works in Berlin.<\/p>\n
She is concerned with the circulation and reception of images and information, particularly as they shift meaning and change register, traversing different contexts and historical circumstances.<\/p>\n
